Politics is a compulsory course for political science, law, international relations, international political economy, public administration, international development and related majors, and is a basic course for the study of international economy and international politics. This course has a theoretical and knowledge-based function, and its main feature is the study of common and fundamental problems in the field of political science, which have a guiding significance for the study of various sub-disciplines.
The course focuses on the process of the origin, development and evolution of political phenomena; it covers the meaning of politics, the essence and basic functions of the state, its content and forms, the process of the evolution of the organization of state institutions, the party system, political democracy and other related knowledge. Through this course, students will understand the origin and evolution of politics, master the basic framework and main schools of political science, grasp the subject areas of political science; understand the basic institutions and processes of modern political operation; learn to analyze problems from a political perspective. At the same time, students will be guided to integrate the study of political science principles with the practical aspects of China's political development and construction.
To this end, the course will focus on three areas: theoretical foundations, case studies, and policy simulations. The theoretical foundations section focuses on an overview of existing theoretical research in the discipline of political science. The case study section focuses on representative political phenomena in historical and current political development, etc. In the policy simulation section, the course will conduct role plays and instruct students to simulate representative political phenomena, etc., in order to allow students to better grasp the theories and knowledge they have learned.
The goals of this course are positioned at cultivating students' political quality and political thinking, their ability to grasp the political world and to think about it, as well as their ability to analyze and solve political problems. According to the teaching principles of combining theory and practice, universal analysis and case analysis, this course strives to present students with a systematic picture about the study of political science and lay a more solid foundation.
